# 20 Rub For ALL Meats
One of the best Charcoal Grilling tips that everyone should take heed of is 'flavor your meat with a rub'. Doing so will add much more flavor to any cut of meat than anything else you can do. With that said I have dug deep my the recipe box and brought out my Old #20 Meat Rub. This rub goes way back for many generations, to those who were Kings of the BBQ, the Rib, Brisket, Chicken and yes Fish preparers of the old.
I found that this combination of herbs and spices to be not only very tasty but actually goes with all meats. The Old #20 rub is not hot at all. It does put a little zing but more importantly the peppers help to tenderize the meat and give it a complimentary flavor. So rub in some lip smackin' good flavors and enjoy.
Ingredients
½ cup ground cumin
½ cup paprika
3/4 cup dehydrated garlic
½ cup onion powder
¼ cup chili powder
¼ cup salt or sea salt
1/8 cup celery seed
¼ cup celery salt
1/8 cup black pepper
1/8 cup red pepper or cayenne
1/8 cup white pepper
2 cups brown sugar or brown sugar spender
2 tbsp ground bay leaf
1tbsp all spice
1 tbsp dextrose powder
1 tsp ground cloves
1 tbsp ground cinnamon
½ cup thyme
1/8 cup ground oregano
1/8 cup ground mustard
Combine all the ingredients in large mixing bowl and blend together well. Make sure to breakup all brown sugar to a fine mix. Store in an air tight container or Ziploc bag.
To season meats:
Generously cover meats with the CharMaster Ric's Old #20 Rub. Make sure you rub it into the meat real well. Then place your meat in a refrigerated cooler for about 1 hour. Place on grill or smoker and cook to desire temperature.
